Medical care

Our medical unit is located upstairs on Briars Ward. All patient rooms are private, single occupancy rooms with full ensuite bathrooms. Each room contains a bedside radio, telephone, remote-control television, in-house video channel and access to wireless internet. Delicious, nutritionally balanced meals are freshly prepared daily by our chef and catering staff deliver these to our patients. Every effort is made to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

The medical team takes an integrated team approach to ensure a high quality of patient care for acute and chronic medical patients. Our nurses work closely with our specialists, onsite career medical officer, allied health and support service teams to provide the best patient care. The medical unit is supported by a Career Medical Officer overnight for most weeknights and has access to 24-hour emergency medical back-up, operating theatres, radiology, pharmacology and pathology services.

Our medical unit is also supported by a high dependency unit. If the medical team is concerned about a patient’s condition, they may be transferred to this unit for closer monitoring.

We have physiotherapy on-site daily, as well as many other allied health and support services. We have close affiliations with nearby rehabilitation facilities if services are required for your recovery prior to going home.
