Thank you to our many community members who donated a Big Hug Box to The Bays cancer patients during our summer beneficiary period. Thanks to your generosity, The Bays Cancer Care Centre will receive a donation of $2915 from The Big Hug Box.

We have been distributing Big Hug Boxes to our cancer patients since last year when our HR Administrator, Debbie Spiers, introduced them at The Bays.

Debbie’s best friend Kelleigh sadly lost her sister Brigid to bowel cancer a couple of years ago. Brigid– who was affectionately known as Boo – received a Big Hug Box while going through her cancer treatment, which brought a smile to her face during a very difficult time.

Kelleigh now organises an annual walk in Brigid’s memory called Boo’s Walk, where walkers donate what they can afford as an entry fee, and all proceeds are used to purchase Big Hug Boxes.

Last year Kelleigh and her team of walkers donated 30 Big Hug Boxes to The Bays to give to patients.

This year Boo’s Walk will be held on Sunday, 5 May at Sweetwater Creek Circuit, Frankston.

If you would like to support the walkers and this worthy cause, you can donate online.
