Some of our aged care residents recently took part in a new lifestyle program called ‘Story People’, sponsored by the Mornington Peninsula Shire.

Story People is a story-sharing arts and cultural project, which brought together residents over morning tea, to share a special story from their past.

Residents shared stories about how they met their spouse, reminisced about the antics of their cheeky children who are now in their 60s, and reflected on migrating to Australia from overseas or welcoming newly arrived migrants, many years ago.

Facilitators, Carole and Jane, from the Dreamhouse Youth Ensemble captured each story and will transcribe them.

The stories will then be performed back to the residents, their family and friends, by an intergenerational cast of actors on Tuesday, 18 June in our Wellness Hub.

Past participants have found it quite therapeutic to witness their own moving or funny story performed for them.
