Mr Satish Warrier is a Colorectal & General Surgeon at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Alfred Health and Epworth Healthcare. He is excited to join The Bays Hospital team in 2020. Having completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales, Mr Warrier trained in General and Colorectal Surgery in Victoria and Cleveland, USA. He was awarded the inaugural Cleveland Clinic-Epworth Healthcare Colorectal Fellowship and completed a Master of Surgery which enabled him to gain advanced skills in complex cancer care, managing young patients with colorectal cancer and complex IBD.

As a strong enthusiast for minimally invasive surgery such as robotic surgery and laparoscopic surgery, Mr Warrier is able to dramatically improve patient outcomes and minimise morbidity. He is a high volume laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeon who is passionate about advancing the field. As such he has published over 130 studies in peer reviewed journals, mentored and proctored Surgeons across Australia and collaborates with global experts to offer superior technology for best practice.

Satish has a special interest in management of anal fissures, haemorrhoids, endoscopy, polypectomy and colectomies. He has been instrumental in the Australian introduction of advanced colorectal cancer surgery such as Robotic Complete Mesocolic Excision, Central Vascular Ligation, Lateral Pelvic Sidewall Dissection, Robotic Natural Orifice Extraction surgery and Robotic Retroperitoneal Lymph Nodal Clearances. Satish also specialises in Robotic Pelvic Exenterative Surgery.

Supplementing his commitment to Surgery, Satish is dedicated to surgical education. As the current chair of the Victorian training board, he endeavours to foster a high quality of training of our young graduates. He is an avid researcher who has contributed to book chapters, guest editorials and supervision of higher degree students through the University of Melbourne. He is a reviewer for high impact journals, is the newly appointed CSSANZ program director for Alfred Health and the current CSSANZ representative on the Surgical Oncology Division for RACS.

In Satish’s spare time, he loves spending time with his wife and two children and enjoying the beaches of the Mornington Peninsula. Satish is an enthusiastic sportsman particularly in basketball, cricket and tennis. He is currently a member of the Mount Martha tennis club and is part of a local elite squad.
