Mr John Choi

Mr John Choi is an orthopaedic surgeon with particular interests in spinal, hip and knee surgery. Mr Choi consults and operates at The Bays Hospital.

Mr Choi completed his medical degree at University of Otago with a faculty scholarship in 2004. Following this, he did an internship and his basic surgical training at The Alfred Hospital.  Mr Choi was admitted to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Orthopaedic Surgery program in 2008 and completed his Australian Orthopaedic Association fellowship in 2012. Mr Choi’s Australian training has involved hospital rotations at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, Epworth Healthcare, Alfred Health, Eastern Health, Southern Health and Peninsula Health where he gained experience in lower limb orthopaedic treatments such as total joint replacements, orthopaedic trauma, sports injury surgery and arthroscopic procedures. Mr Choi then received a scholarship from The Spine Society of Australia and travelled to Hong Kong to gain experience in complex spine surgery. He completed an AO spine fellowship and Kokubun fellowship in spine tumour and cervical spine surgery.

Mr Choi lives permanently on the Mornington Peninsula with his family.
