About us

Caring for the Peninsula – that’s what The Bays is all about

The Bays has served our community for over 80 years and has a reputation for excellence in the provision of quality healthcare. This reputation is based on the fundamentals of modern equipment, high quality services and professional, caring staff. We are located on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, 60 minutes by car south-east of Melbourne.

The Bays is a progressive, not for profit organisation which operates The Bays Hospital in Mornington, and The Bays Aged Care and dialysis unit – both in Hastings.

The Bays is the last of Victoria’s bush nursing associations still providing aged care and a full range of acute hospital services. We receive no direct funding assistance from government and rely on the generosity of the community to help us to purchase equipment, keep up with the latest medical developments, and maintain a comfortable, supportive environment for patients and residents.

Our patients are at the heart of everything we do and every decision we make. We are constantly upgrading and refurbishing our facilities to provide state-of-the-art equipment, facilities and comfort.

A survey of Medibank Private customers in 2013, named us as the Highest Rated Maternity Hospital in Australia. We’re very proud of that result and continue to work hard to improve on it in all areas of the hospital.

We have strong relationships with allied health organisations on the Mornington Peninsula and beyond. Our Board, staff and doctors are actively involved in the health industry in Victoria, nationally and internationally.

Become a member of The Bays

An essential part of the success of The Bays is the membership base within our community. People who elect to become a member of The Bays not only play a vital role in the governance of the organisation, but help us stay well-connected to the needs of our community. Membership is essential to our future and we welcome new members wishing to join and share our story.
