Congratulations to our Preadmission Nurse, Belinda Finn, who will receive a scholarship through our Nurse and Midwifery Education Fund, thanks to founding partner, Rotary Mornington.

Belinda will use the scholarship to complete a ‘Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education and Healthcare’.

Belinda has worked at The Bays for 14 years and has been very interested in diabetes during her 25 years of nursing. Now that her daughters are older, she has the time and opportunity to undertake further study.

Belinda has cared for diabetic patients on the wards and in a community setting both here in Australia and in the UK, and hopes the course will enable her to help support and educate clinical staff and patients at The Bays, as an in-house diabetes educator.

Diabetes is the fastest growing chronic condition worldwide – 1 in 20 Australians are living with diabetes, and gestational diabetes is being diagnosed in approximately 1 in 6 pregnant women.

Belinda has demonstrated her commitment to serving the community both locally and internationally. Belinda was responsible for making The Bays an official Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs collection site in 2022, a charity that recycles plastic bread tags to donate wheelchairs to disadvantaged people in South Africa.

Congratulations Belinda, we wish you all the best with your studies!
