Our friendly team of volunteers provide practical assistance and support the Hospital's public relations initiatives.

In Mornington, our volunteer groups help to take patients to their rooms and day surgery unit, staff the gift shop, deliver newspapers and gift items, tend and maintain the patients' fresh flowers, provide administrative assistance,  provide a visiting service and knit or craft items for sale in the gift shop.  We also have a gardening volunteer service that works on the beautification of outside areas.

At Hastings we have The Bays Hospital Group Pink Ladies Association that has been in operation for over 40 years.   The Pink Ladies tend to flowers, visit residents and participate in fundraising and residents' activities.

At the moment, we have vacancies at Hastings to assist the Lifestyle staff with their activity programs.  Some of the duties involved include visiting with residents on a 1: 1 basis to read to residents who are no longer able to read, listen to their stories, support residents by being there, offer emotional support, do their shopping, take them to appointments, give a hand massage or simply by putting on some music for them.

For further information about volunteering please contact Neralie Thorp, Public Relations Manager Tel: 03 59 76 5242
