The Bays Hospital Building Project

The Bays Hospital Building For Your Future expansion commenced in September 2010.  The redevelopment of the hospital is expected to be completed by August 2012.  Read More

The Bays Hospital is proud to have been able to provide top quality health care to the Mornington Peninsula community for nearly 80 years.  Starting as the Mornington Bush Nursing Hospital, The Bays Hospital has grown and developed along with the Mornington Peninsula community over that time.

Recently,  our community has experienced unprecedented population growth.  This rapid population growth has increased demand for our services to the point where we are often operating at full capacity and are unable to admit additional patients who require medical care.  As a result, The Bays Hospital needed to upgrade and expand its facilities to meet the current and projected needs of the Mornington Peninsula community.

The Bays Hospital does not receive any direct funding support from federal or state governments.  It is a community-owned, not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity.  The hospital reinvests earnings in its building, equipment and people and relies on the continuing support of the local community to meet its objectives.

What are we building?

The building project will include:
  • 19 new patient rooms with ensuites;
  • 2 new state-of-the-art operating theatres; and
  • a purpose-built Day Surgery unit.

The project will also create a new ambulance entry at the front of the hospital and will include support services such as a nurse call and internal paging system, a larger power generator and a new kitchen.  The redevelopment of the hospital is expected to be completed by August 2012.

What can you do to help?

Your support means everything to our staff, doctors, patients and families and the broader community.  Your cash donation, no matter how large or small, will help build a better hospital that will serve the Mornington Peninsula community well for decades to come.  Please note that all donations are tax deductible.
